The men, women and children of Europe experienced great changes to their lives during the Second World War, including mass movements from homes, the loss of friends and family, living under Occupation, Allied bombing, perhaps involved in forced labour, resistance activities and facing reprisals. The Centre holds personal experiences encompassing these life-changing events but would welcome more memories and memorabilia. Anna Golesworthy
Anna was the daughter of a Dutch family living in Java when Pearl Harbour was bombed by the Japanese. Much of Anna's war was spent in the brutal regime of a Japanese camp.

Janina Bauman
Janina Bauman was a Jewish girl in Poland, forced to live in the Warsaw Ghetto. She escaped to the 'Aryan' side of the city and spent years in hiding to avoid deportation.

David Kaye
David Kaye's harrowing account of his experiences as a prisoner in Auschwitz and in Buchenwald may cause some distress.
